This is something I struggle with seasonally today. As much fun as it is to take an unplanned nap under the justification that “rest is biblical,” it’s important to acknowledge that rest actually is biblical. I used to prioritize money and work over building relationships, enjoying Christian community, and making disciples. I definitely didn’t want to devote time to prayer and reading the Bible when I could be working or gambling. (I usually didn’t mind wasting time smoking weed, though. That’s the irony.) Don’t convince yourself that engaging in spiritual disciplines is a waste of time. God created everything for His glory. Nothing done for that purpose is a waste of time. That includes worship. That includes service. That includes rest. Using the details you have researched, call or email the business and ask them to verify the information within the email.
- Check if the email has been sent to multiple people
Google snippets of the email text to see if the same format has been used in the past. eg “Army officer from Syria but now living with the United Nations on asylum”
